For some
Americans it provokes them, if you comment on their overweight because they
feel it is their free right to eat whatever they want to eat.
“Most times that I launch into a conversation
about why we have so much bad food in our American system, I often talk about
the lack of deep seeded food roots. Yes, we have plenty of heavy food
influences that have made their way down the line from generation upon
generation of people that have moved here from around the world, but when it
comes down to it, we don’t really have any defining food traditions” said
by the American marketing manager and Food Editor of EcoSalon, Anna Brones.
Here she expresses
how she sees the American Identity in all the bad food that the Americans are
known eating for. She declaims that it has been a problem that has plagued one
generation to another. So eating fat food is something that has always been a
part of the American citizen identity, since it is something they always have
known.
”Jag inspireras mycket
av USA också. Folk tror inte att det finns någon matkultur där, men det gör
det. Jag tilltalas av överflödet, att det är stora
portioner och mycket av allt” said by the swedish food stylist and cookbook author, Monica Eisenman.
Here Monica
tells how USA does have a food culture. But in this quote she does not mention
particulars kinds of food. She claims that the American food culture is based
on large servings and much of everything. This can also help us understand the
massive number on the American overweight.
