Many associate the United States with fast food. But
in fact the U.S. is divided into 13 different areas where each has his kind of
food.
The areas are:
California: California is the kitchen in the United
States along with New York City that has the most varied cuisine. They tend to
pull inspiration from many different countries. It started out as a mixture
between Spanish and Indian cuisine. But later it went more into the European
and Chinese cuisine.
Since then, the Californian cuisine also got
inspiration from the vitenamesiske, Japanese and koreaske food culture.
Pacific religion (Alaska, Oregon and Washington): Agricultural
thrive here. For example: berries, fruit, seafood and fish. These ingredients
also play important roles in their own courts. Midnight Sun in Alaska makes it
possible to grow giant vegetables here.
Mountain Religion (Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah,
Colorado and Nevada): This area is known for eating much sauce, meat and
potatoes. This area is probably the most similar to the Danish kitchen. It was
originally shepherds who lived has so why sheep and lambs a major influence in
their food.
Southwest (Arizona and New Mexico): This area is very
fond of spicy food and draws inspiration from the Indian and Mexican cuisine.
Prairie (Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and
South Dakota): This area has many immigrants from Russia, Ukraine and Norway.
The area is also known as the "nation's breadbasket" because of the
large amount of wheat produced. The dishes are being made here is usually
simple.
Texas: Texas is where you say cowboys come from. It is
a blend of Mexican cuisine also called tex-mex, and slave’s food it is called
"soul food".
Midwest
or the heartland (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana,
Michigan and Ohio): This area is primarily where settlers from Scandinavia,
Germany, Poland and England came to. They came to be farmers and it has left
its mark on the food. Their food consists mainly of recipes with lots of
cheese, ham, sausage and beer.
The South (Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi,
Arkansas, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, Virginia and
Washington DC): Sun's food is a mix between Indian food, Europeans food and
slave food. This means that many of southern cuisine are described as
"soul food".
Louisiana: Louisiana is the place in the United States
has the most unique cuisine. The food is a mix of French, Italian, Spanish,
German, African, West Indian and Indian cuisine. Louisiana is known for its
"Cajun food".
Atlantic Religion (New York, Delaware, Maryland, New
Jersey, Pennsylvania and Long Island): This area resident received many
Dutchmen, Germans, English, Swedes and Frenchmen. It has had a major influence
in the food. The country that has had the greatest influence is however,
Netherlands.
New England (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont,
Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut): The inspiration for the food came
originally from England, but also had some inspiration from the Indian kitchen.
Later immigrants, especially from Portugal, Ireland and Italy gave the food a
little amount of spice
Hawaii: Hawaii's food is a mixture of Polynesian
cuisine and the different kinds of food you get on the mainland. They eat a lot
of seafood, but also some traditional farmer dishes on the menu.
